What brought you to Renegade Fitness in the first place?
Heather- I discovered renegade through a 6 week challenge that was posted on Facebook. We had a big family vacation to Hawaii that summer and I was tired of avoiding family pictures, I figured it was worth a shot to drop some extra pounds! I had great results from the challenge and I was hooked immediately.
Bill- Heather had been a member for a few years and had always raved about how much she enjoyed not only the workouts, but the staff. I had always thought a gym like Renegade was more for woman and thought I preferred to just workout with weights at home. Boy was I wrong. I joined her for a ‘bring a friend’ workout and was instantly hooked.
What are your current goals?
Heather- My goals have definitely evolved over the years since joining. At the beginning I had to do modifications for a lot of the movements, so just working on getting past those. As the years have gone by my goals are more about maintaining a balance of enjoying life with a bit of self control! Trying to make sure I can fit back into my shorts every summer.
Bill- As I continue to get older, my goal is simply to stay healthy, work hard and try and stay in shape while still enjoying life.
What kind of success have you had?
Hetaher- My successes very from day to day. Some days it’s a success just to get my workout in, or fitting back into my tight clothes. After 5 years of being a member, I have definitely become stronger. I would say my biggest success has been showing my son the importance of staying active, exercise was not part of my childhood and I love that he sees his parents making their health and fitness a priority.
Bill- Since joining Renegade, I have lost close to 20 pounds and continue to improve my health. I have worked body parts that I haven’t touched in years and am in overall better shape than I was before I joined.
What is your favorite thing about Renegade Fitness?
Heather- The trainers, the knowledge that they have and are always willing to take the time on educating you, whether it is correcting form or nutrition advice. Also that there is a reason behind each workout, it is not just some movements thrown together. I love that the members are all very friendly, everyone is so motivating to each other. It is really hard to pinpoint, it is just a special place, it goes beyond just a good workout.
Bill- Everything? I mean I love the trainers, the atmosphere and how well everyone treats each other. It’s almost like a big family. I have not met one person there that wasn’t nice. It’s simply an amazing atmosphere. I always tell people, that I wish I had a place like Renegade back when I was in my 20’s and 30’s. I played on a pro beach volleyball tour back then and I cannot imagine how much better I would have been had I worked out this hard!!
Can you tell us a bit more about yourselves?
Heather- I am a dental hygienist at Turner & Turner Family Dentistry. I love to travel as a family as much a we possibly can fit in our schedule. I also enjoy running, reading and did I mention traveling?
Bill- I am an I.T. specialist for a Subway Franchise here in Toledo. We have 15 locations (including the one across the street!) so that keeps me pretty busy. I actually have a 2nd job as well, where I run an online forum for Rotogrinders.com, the largest daily fantasy sports community on the internet. For fun I enjoy watching sports, playing daily fantasy sports on Fanduel & Draftkings and traveling! Most of all though, the thing I look forward to after a long week is hanging out at a local bar with my beautiful wife just chatting it up. Renegade helps me erase the guilt of all those calories we gain on those nights!!
