We would like to warmly welcome Ashley Schmalzried to the RF Coaching Team! Ashley started with us as a member, became a RF Staff member, and now we are thrilled that she wanted to take her knowledge of fitness to a new level and join the coaching staff. We are excited to have her start and are thankful for her sharing a bit of her story below!
Hey guys! I’m Ashley. I’ve been married to my husband for almost 7 years and we have a dog Theo, who is like our baby. Yes, I’m a crazy dog lady. When I’m not coaching at Renegade I’m either babysitting Jen and Chris’s little girl Madison or working for my church in their Kid’s Ministry. In my free time I like to hang out with John and our friends. I love to watch The Office, so if you’re a fan we will be instant best friends! I also recently took up running (I’m in the very beginning stages) so I’m learning and pushing myself with that and of course: I love to stay fit and workout!
I started my fitness Journey about 6 years ago or so. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and needed to make some serious changes in my life regarding my health. I tried a lot of different diets throughout my life, none of which I could stick with, so when I needed to figure out how to get healthy I was pretty lost and overwhelmed. I started by just eating what I thought were healthier foods and exercising (mainly cardio). I did this for about a year and a half before I moved to renegade. I had lost about 30 lbs on my own but then had a knee injury that required surgery and I ended up putting some weight back on. When I joined Renegade I was looking for a gym that was going to care about me, my safety, and technique because I was SO scared to re injure myself and lose even more progress. Once I started working out at RF I instantly fell in love with the workouts and the close knit gym family. I felt like Jen and Chris truly cared about me and my goals. I was seeing progress pretty quick. Jen and Chris were always checking in on me and never seemed to be annoyed with my questions I asked both with nutrition and with the workouts. I quickly learned while working with Jen the importance of food. And while I feel like I’m still learning, this was the biggest impact RF had on me! With the help of RF I have lost a total of 70 lbs and am in the best shape of my life. I am stronger than I have ever been or imagined I could be!
Goals With Coaching
Now that I have the amazing opportunity to be a coach, I am super excited to take my passion for helping people and fitness and join those together. I am excited for what I am personally learning and can’t wait to encourage, motivate, and help all of the amazing clients at RF to be their best self!
