What brought you to Renegade Fitness in the first place?

I’ve been working out for years. When my gym closed last September, I was on the hunt for a new one. I tried a few locations, a smaller gym, a big chain fitness center and even CrossFit. I didn’t care for any of them. My friends had joined Renegade but I didn’t want to make the drive from Maumee. In January I quit working out all together. Of course once I was ready to start looking for another gym in March the pandemic hit. Once the gyms opened up in June, with a little encouragement from my friends and Coach Marizol, I decided to give Renegade a shot, and have been there almost everyday since!
 

What are your current goals?

I’m working on getting rid of the extra weight in my midsection I  got during my gym hiatus. Ultimately, I want to be able to fit in my clothes and be comfortable and confident! 

What kind of success have you had?

I lost 10lbs in my first month at Renegade. I haven’t lost any since then and I started getting obsessed with the scale. When I tried on a pair of shorts that were tight a month prior and they were now so loose I needed a belt, I realized that my body composition was changing, losing fat and gaining muscle, and I needed to stay off that scale. 
 

What is your favorite thing about Renegade?

Everything! The classes are challenging, the coaches are encouraging and great at correcting form, all the members are friendly and it’s very clean, which is good during a pandemic. 
 

Tell us a bit about yourself... Who is Jay? 

I’m a therapeutic massage therapist and owner of Massage by Jay in Maumee certified in deep tissue work, prenatal, and Ashiatsu Barefoot massage. I live in Maumee with my boyfriend of four years, Calvin, my pug Ellie Mae and my cat Percy. When I’m not working or at the gym, I enjoy bowling, playing volleyball, reading and jigsaw puzzles!
